Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, shared insights from her recent engagements and concerns about proposed federal funding cuts through social media posts dated February 9, 2025.

In her first post of the day, Rep. Slotkin discussed her meeting with local leaders in West Michigan, particularly around Kalamazoo. Later that day, Rep. Slotkin addressed concerns over potential cuts to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), highlighting their impact on Michigan's research institutions: "The news on proposed cuts to NIH have ricocheted across Michigan’s research institutions and universities. She further elaborated on the potential consequences for the American workforce involved in drug trials and testing: "It will destroy our workforce responsible for trials and testing of drugs that we count on — and more of the drugs we depend on will be designed, tested and manufactured in China.
