Senator Elissa Slotkin shared a series of updates regarding developments concerning Selfridge Air National Guard Base, located in Michigan. Her Twitter posts from late April 2025 shed light on recent initiatives and achievements related to national security and military capabilities at the base.

On April 28, 2025, Senator Slotkin emphasized the importance of continuity and preparedness in national defense, highlighting "We are facing serious national security threats, and Selfridge has over a century of protecting our nation, and with that history, we are uniquely positioned for a new fighter mission. Michiganders are united. Let's make this a reality." This comment underscores her commitment to maintaining and enhancing military operations at Selfridge.

Following up the next day, April 29, 2025, Slotkin announced a successful outcome for the base, expressing satisfaction with the securement of a new fighter for Selfridge. She described this development as a significant victory for the state, stating "We have secured a new fighter in Selfridge. This is a big win for Michigan - see my statement below."

On April 30, 2025, Sen. Slotkin provided further details, acknowledging the long-term collaborative efforts of Michigan leaders that led to Selfridge being allocated 21 F-15EX fighters. Slotkin conveyed, "After more than a decade of bipartisan work from Michigan leaders, this announcement that Selfridge will receive 21 F-15EX fighters is a big win and a testament to the more than 100-year history of Selfridge defending our nation. Elissa Slotkin is currently a member of the U.S. Congress, serving since 2019 representing Michigan’s 7th district, having replaced Mike Bishop. The 46-year-old was born in New York City and currently resides in Lansing.
