During their time at the facility, Barrett and Chavez-DeRemer met with employees and discussed the impact of regulations on business operations. They emphasized the importance of reducing regulatory burdens to improve infrastructure and stimulate economic development in Michigan.
Barrett expressed concerns about how "years of overregulation and excessive red tape have crushed businesses in mid-Michigan," impacting economic growth and increasing construction costs. He appreciated Secretary Chavez-DeRemer's understanding of these issues, noting her efforts alongside President Trump to boost job creation in the state.
Secretary Chavez-DeRemer highlighted Shafer Redi-Mix as an example of American entrepreneurship, having expanded from one plant in 1982 to six across Michigan. She stated, "I'm proud to be here in Lansing with Rep. Barrett on my America at Work tour to hear directly from the hardworking men and women who stand to gain most from the One Big, Beautiful Bill."
