Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, has recently addressed several key issues on her social media account, ranging from international relations to domestic economic concerns.
On July 24, 2025, Slotkin commented on global leadership dynamics between the United States and China. She stated, "The next 100 years are going to be either dominated by the United State of America or by China. And while we make mistakes, I will take American leadership over Chinese leadership any day of the week."
The following day, July 25, she raised questions about political timing during a Homeland Security Committee hearing. In her post, Slotkin wrote: "Today at a Homeland Security Committee hearing, the senior most advisor to Tulsi Gabbard couldn't give me a good answer for why they just happened to publish a report about Barack Obama the *same day* President Trump was named in the Epstein Files."
Later that same day, Slotkin turned her attention to domestic policy and economic issues facing Americans. She posted: "Cost of living and the economy: THAT is the driving issue for the middle class. It's just not driving the conversation among political elites.
If you want to understand why our system isn’t working, it’s because the American people feel like the American dream isn’t working."
Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She earned her BA from Cornell University in 1998 before entering public service.
