Congressman Tom Barrett, who represents Michigan's 7th Congressional District, shared updates on his recent visits and policy positions through a series of posts on August 25, 2025.
In one post from that day, Barrett expressed appreciation for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and Lansing residents after touring The Residences at Walter French. He wrote, "Thanks to @MSHDA and local Lansing families for showing me around The Residences at Walter French. It was great to see the work everyone is doing to make good, safe housing more accessible to people in our community. I’ll continue working to lower the cost of building, buying," (August 25, 2025).
Later the same day, Barrett highlighted the efforts of a local nonprofit: "Child and Family Charities provides essential support to countless families in Lansing. The work this organization does in our community is truly admirable, and I’m grateful for the tour last week. I look forward to continuing to work together to strengthen mid-Michigan families." (August 25, 2025).
Barrett also visited Sinto America in Grand Ledge, a manufacturer specializing in industrial parts. In his post he stated: "I enjoyed meeting the team at @SintoAmerica in Grand Ledge and checking out the cutting-edge industrial parts they manufacture. No tax on overtime and other critical tax relief are wins for the dedicated mid-Michigan workers who keep the worldwide economy humming." (August 25, 2025).
Congressman Barrett has focused much of his legislative activity on economic development and social services within Michigan’s mid-region. MSHDA works with communities across Michigan to increase access to affordable housing options for residents statewide. Organizations like Child and Family Charities provide vital support services including counseling, foster care assistance, and youth programs throughout Lansing.
Barrett’s mention of tax relief aligns with ongoing discussions among state lawmakers about supporting workers through measures such as eliminating taxes on overtime pay.
