Congressman Tom Barrett, who represents Michigan's 7th congressional district, shared updates on his recent activities and expressed condolences following a tragedy in Minneapolis through several posts on X (formerly Twitter).

On August 27, 2025, Barrett thanked the president of the Michigan Farm Bureau for a meeting focused on agricultural policy. He wrote: "Thank you to @MichFarmBureau President Ben LaCross for meeting with me to discuss the needs of Michigan’s agriculture industry this week. I’m proud of the results we are delivering with the One Big Beautiful Bill to lower taxes for farmers, protect family farms from the Death https://t.co/p2GEMe6l54".

Later that day, Barrett responded to news from Minnesota involving violence at a school. In his post he stated: "I’m heartbroken over the loss of innocent life at Annunciation Catholic School this morning. My prayers go out to the victims, their families, and the entire Minneapolis community who have been devastated by this evil act of violence. May God comfort them during this time of".

On August 28, 2025, Barrett discussed his engagement with GreenStone Farm Credit Services regarding support for local agriculture. He said: "GreenStone Farm Credit Services gives farmers the financial backing they need to invest in crops, livestock, and equipment. I’m grateful for the informative conversation about how we can continue partnering to support mid-Michigan agriculture. https://t.co/Gr9AuMp5o5".

Barrett has served as a U.S. Representative since January 2023 and is known for advocating policies related to agriculture and rural communities in Michigan's 7th district.
