Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, has used her social media platform to address recent issues affecting Michigan residents, including disaster recovery and energy policy.

On August 29, 2025, Slotkin called for federal assistance following a severe ice storm in Northern Michigan. She stated, "Michigan needs federal resources so we can rebuild and move forward. Northern Michigan families and small businesses have shown resilience in the face of this once-in-a-generation ice storm, and now FEMA needs to step in to do its part."

Later that day, Slotkin commented on the ongoing debate over energy sources and costs. She wrote on August 29, 2025: "Anyone who tells you that we should scrap certain types of energy because it's “woke” doesn't give a crap about your costs."

On August 31, 2025, she addressed economic concerns with another post: "If he’s not careful, he is going to walk us right into a recession."

Slotkin replaced Mike Bishop in Congress in 2019 and has resided in Lansing since taking office. Born in New York City in 1976 and a graduate of Cornell University with a BA earned in 1998, Slotkin continues to advocate for policies affecting her constituents.
