Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, criticized former President Donald Trump’s recent decision to halt several energy projects in a series of posts on social media.

On September 2, 2025, Slotkin wrote, "President Trump decided to kill energy projects that are nearly done, because he doesn’t like wind and solar. We all know our country overall needs more energy, not less. Make no mistake, this move will result in Americans paying more on their energy bills, and it will kill good,". She also shared a related link in a follow-up post the same day: "https://t.co/GiUqkNrXmG".

The following day, Slotkin continued her commentary on economic conditions by stating, "People are hurting, and it’s not hard to see why. https://t.co/LzHmS3x7ea".

Elissa Slotkin has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Mike Bishop. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.
