Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, outlined her approach to American national security in a series of social media posts on September 5, 2025.

In her first post at 16:15 UTC, Slotkin wrote, "A national security strategy worth its salt must do two things. First, protect U.S. citizens, the homeland, and our way of life. And second, advance American prosperity. That's it. Watch as I lay out my vision for American national security @CFR_org: https://t.co/WYYKU6P7Rm".

Later that day at 18:07 UTC, she continued by stating, "Today, I laid out a new vision for America’s national security, informed by the middle class. (1/2) https://t.co/CxLGNm8YFm".

Just moments afterward at 18:08 UTC, Slotkin added another post emphasizing her priorities: "We need to throw out the old playbook and ruthlessly focus our national security approach on two things: advancing American economic prosperity and protecting our people, our homeland, and our way of life. (2/2)".

Slotkin has served in Congress since defeating Mike Bishop in 2019 and represents Michigan’s 7th District. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin is an alumna of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree obtained in 1998.
