Senator Roger Victory has announced that more than $25 million in state funding will be directed to infrastructure and public safety projects in West Michigan. The funds are part of the recently approved fiscal year 2026 state budget.
According to Victory, “The overall budget invests in our local roads, cuts taxes for working families and seniors, and reduces overall government spending.” He represents the 31st Senate District, which includes parts of Ottawa and Allegan counties.
Of the allocated funds, $920,000 is designated for Blendon Township to improve its water system. Park Township will receive $600,000 to acquire the former U.S. Coast Guard station for use by the fire department’s marine division.
The new budget also creates a public safety trust fund aimed at supporting law enforcement and community violence intervention programs. The 31st Senate District is set to receive over $630,000 from this fund.
“These projects are significant investments to improve infrastructure and public safety in our communities,” Victory said. “I am glad to have supported funding for these projects and look forward to continuing to advocate for the good folks of West Michigan.”
Allegan County is expected to get about $6 million for road improvements, while Ottawa County will see more than $14 million in additional revenue. Several cities and villages within the district will also receive increased funding for roads: Ferrysburg ($162,338), Grand Haven ($542,021), Holland ($1,888,649), Hudsonville ($347,841), Spring Lake ($120,019), and Zeeland ($275,753).
“My constituents have continued to voice their concerns over the state of our local roads. This budget and the policy changes we made alongside it will finally ensure a sustained, long-term investment in our local roads,” Victory said.
The state budget was passed earlier this month with support from several Michigan legislators.
