Senator Roger Victory, along with other Republican leaders, held a press conference at the Michigan Capitol on Thursday to call for the immediate resignations of Michigan State Police Director Colonel James Grady and Deputy Director Lieutenant Colonel Aimee Brimacombe.
The demand follows the release of a report that accuses Colonel Grady of engaging in repeated workplace harassment, favoritism, and retaliation. The report also alleges that Lieutenant Colonel Brimacombe misused state resources for personal benefit.
Additionally, a recent poll conducted by the Michigan State Police Troopers Association showed that 98% of its members expressed no confidence in both Grady and Brimacombe.
“Transparency and accountability are essential here in the state of Michigan,” said Victory, R-Hudsonville. “For our state troopers to be their best, they need strong and honest leaders. Failure of these individuals to lead with integrity erodes the public trust in one of our state’s most respected institutions.”
During the press conference, Republican leaders discussed a letter sent to Governor Gretchen Whitmer urging her to seek the resignations of Grady and Brimacombe or remove them from their positions if they do not step down voluntarily.
Victory has previously served as chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety during 2021-22.
