Effective December 1, the toll for eastbound vehicles crossing the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron will increase by $1, bringing the total to $5 for cars. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) states that this adjustment is intended to address higher maintenance and operational expenses, as well as ongoing construction improvements at the bridge plaza.
This toll change is part of a staggered plan initiated in 2024. MDOT had sought input from commuters and the public before finalizing its decision on rate increases. "Following an overwhelming response from a public survey, BWB administration implemented the first $1 rate increase on Dec. 1, 2024, with this next $1 increase beginning this Dec. 1. This overall rate increase follows 14 years of no changes to toll rates for commuter and commercial vehicles," according to MDOT.
The new rates starting December 1 are as follows: cars will pay $5, each extra axle will be charged an additional $5, and trucks and buses will pay $5.25 per axle. Holders of the EDGE Pass Commuter card will continue to receive a $0.50 discount per crossing.
Discounts remain available for eligible EDGE Pass users. Additional details about the EDGE Pass program can be found at www.BlueWaterBridge.us/, and questions may be directed to MDOT-BWB-CustomerCare@Michigan.gov.
