The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced the closure of two intersections along M-58 (State Street) in Saginaw for paving work. The intersection at Mackinaw Street will be closed on Thursday, November 13, while the eastbound intersection at Warwick Street will be closed on Friday, November 14. During these closures, northbound and southbound traffic will not be able to cross M-58 (State Street) at these locations.

Currently, eastbound M-58 (State Street) is closed and detoured onto westbound M-58 (Davenport Avenue). To accommodate traffic during construction, westbound M-58 has been temporarily converted into a two-way road with a center turn lane.

This construction is part of a larger project to rebuild 1.1 miles of eastbound M-58 from Avalon Avenue to M-84 (Bay Street). The project includes hot-mix asphalt rebuilding, installation of new concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks, signal upgrades, new signs, landscaping and pavement markings. MDOT is working with the City of Saginaw to upgrade city sewers and water mains as part of the project.

According to economic modeling by MDOT, this $13 million investment is projected to support 124 jobs both directly and indirectly.
